History has taught us that when people build partnerships across a range of civil society institutions (faith groups, schools, trade unions and charities, etc.) in a way that enables them to operate independently by raising their own money and training their own people, change is possible.

Citizens UK has a long tradition of supporting civil society leaders to build and, importantly, sustain broad-based alliances, dating back to the mid-1990s, when East London Citizens (TELCO) was founded after three years of relational work across communities in East London.

Interested in this tradition, leaders from a range of civil society institutions sometimes get together to reach out to Citizens UK organisers to explore what building a new Citizens UK chapter or alliance could mean for their town/city/region.
