Oxford Citizens at Eid Extravaganza

Thames Valley Citizens and Sponsor Refugees meet Oxford's Vibrant Muslim Community

Sunday 8th May 2022, Oxford Eid hosted an incredible Eid Extravaganza. Hundreds attended with a huge choice of games, fair ground rides, food and crafts. Thames Valley Citizens teamed up with Sponsor Refugees for a crazy 'Donut or Donate" fundraiser for Sponsor Refugees and had an amazing time meeting people!

Sponsor Refugees was set up by Citizens UK in the wake of Syrian refugee crisis and now has over 70 groups around the country, each one raising money to give practical and personal support to refugees arriving to the UK. Oxford Welcomes Refugees arrived, along with their first sponsored family. Visitors to the stall were invited to eat a donut from a piece of string 'no-hands' to win the free donate OR - if they failed - to make a donation to Sponsor Refugees!

Around 60 people took up the challenge!

We also invited visitors to tell us about 'Oxford As It Is' and 'Oxford As It Should Be' and to tell us about their hopes for the future of our shared neighbourhoods and city. We want to say a huge congratulations to the organise of this fantastic event!
