Young leaders host powerful Youth Assembly to improve local bus services

On 15 October, new members USP College in Benfleet hosted a powerful Youth Assembly in their impressive immersive theatre. From across nine educational organisations, 170 students gathered in person with another 20 joining online. Students chaired the assembly and shared stories of inadequate bus services, noting delayed buses, no space at peak times and students being stranded at rural bus stops when drivers did not see them in the dark.

They look forward to presenting their asks to candidates for the inaugural Mayor of Essex at the Mayoral Election Assembly at Chelmsford Cathedral on 24 March and would like to invite candidates to join them for a journey on the number 28 bus after college one day, so they can experience it for themselves.
