Citizens UK selected for The Guardian 2025 Christmas Charity Appeal
Citizens UK is delighted to have been selected for The Guardian 2025 Christmas Charity Appeal. This year’s theme is ‘Hope’, and will aim to tell the stories of community cohesion up and down the country, highlighting what communities have in common - not what divides them.
In the UK, and indeed more broadly across the world, there has been a rise in social division and polarisation. Our method of social change - ‘community organising’ - brings people together across their differences to find common ground and win change, from campaigning for zebra crossings on dangerous roads to reforming the immigration system, to the real Living Wage campaign.
The appeal runs from Friday 5 December to Sunday 11 January. Working in partnership with The Guardian, we will be highlighting stories of hope that are at the heart of our work, showcasing real community cohesion and building trust across difference, all whilst bringing communities together to make change - from making neighbourhoods safer, to building stronger, more welcoming communities. Support from The Guardian Appeal would help us launch a Power-Building Fund to grow the skills, confidence, and collective power of communities across the UK.
