Islington Citizens ask their local authority to consider resettling 50 Syrian refugees from UN refugee camps this festive season

Members of Islington Citizens marked St Nicholas's Day by remembering those who will be in refugee camps over this festive period.

Sister Elizabeth O'Donohoe from St Mellitus Church said:

"The plight of refugees from the Syrian war is troubling. We see it all the time on television and in the newspapers. To do something about it is the only sensible response and here we have a chance because the UN is recommending it and the EU is making it possible."
