A Living Wage for Manchester United workers

Manchester United is one of the world's most successful and wealthiest clubs - we have lots to be proud of, but right now the very people who make our games at the Old Trafford stadium possible are struggling to keep their heads above water and make ends meet.

The Living Wage is based on the true cost of living, yet all our cleaners, caterers, security workers are on nothing more than the minimum wage... surely nobody who works at Man Utd should have to choose between paying the bills and putting food on the table?

Our voice as Man Utd fans is so, so important. People like Executive Vice Chair Ed Woodward are more likely to listen to us than anyone else, even the workers themselves!

Greater Manchester Citizens - an alliance of community organisations - are calling on our club to give staff the pay rise they deserve. Do you support our call? If so, why? We would love to hear what you think.

Thank you,

Furqan Naeem
Community Organiser and United season ticket holder

The fans help make this club what it is, please don’t let us down by failing to pay your staff living wage

Absolutely no excuse for this to be happening. The players and executives wouldn’t miss a small pay cut to cover the cost of paying their fellow workers a proper wage.

I believe that people who work for Manchester United deserve a living wage. They are ambassadors for the club so should be rewarded for the excellent work that they do. Paying them minimal wage is cheap and tells them the club don’t value their work. The club can afford to pay a decent wage and should pave the way to other big organisations to do the same.

Come on United, sort this out!!

Our club should something to be proud of, a family that takes care of one another. It’s more than just a club, it’s the richest club in the world so why do the people who contribute towards it’s success have to struggle to make ends meet.

Come on United do the right thing and pay everyone a real living wage.

Manchester United Football Club should pay its staff more than the living wage not just the living wage. It is inexcusable for a club of this stature to fail to do so. The staff who work behind the scenes work tirelessly and deserve a wage that merits their hard work and dedication to the club. Reward that loyalty and pay your staff a wage that is based on the true cost of living and uphold the image and integrity of this magnificent football club.

In this day and age everyone should be earning a living wage, not living from hand to mouth. Pay up United. We keep hearing that we are the richest club in the world give some of the profits to the men and women without whom our club couldn’t survive

It seems only fair that the richest club in the league – and the world – pay ALL workers enough to live on. Ed Woodward please sort this out!
