Fair Energy Campaign
Fair Energy Campaign
A movement dedicated to tackling the twin dangers of poverty and global heating
What is the Fair Energy Campaign
We are building an energy social movement to win money for households and save carbon for our planet. Using community organising, our strategy is two-fold:
- Switch communities and their buildings to suppliers that conform to our objectives
- Encourage Fair Energy suppliers
We define Fair Energy suppliers as those who are committed to:
- No 'tease-and-squeeze' pricing
- 100% renewable electricity
In 2020, we have assessed Bulb, Octopus Energy and London Power as meeting these criteria.
No 'tease-and-squeeze' pricing
Energy suppliers often offer cheap rates, but many households forget to renew their contract. Households are then placed on a Standard Variable Tariff, which can increase fuel bills as much as 30%.
100% renewable electricity
The average UK energy supplier sources just 33% of their electricity from renewable sources, in their fuel energy mix as reported to Ofgem.
