We are proud to announce that Homes for Haringey, the arms-length management organisation managing 21,000 council homes in the borough, is now an accredited London Living Wage employer. Homes for Haringey has joined over 200 employers from across London in signing up to the London Living Wage accreditation scheme, led by the Living Wage Foundation. The London Living Wage plaque was presented by local school children from the Willow Primary School and the Brook Special Primary School, both in Tottenham. The presentation was an opportunity for the young students to meet Homes for Haringey’s Managing Director, Andrew Billany, and to learn about and discuss the benefits of a local employer like Homes for Haringey paying the London Living Wage.
As an accredited London Living Wage employer, the organisation has agreed to ensure that all employees are paid at least the London living wage. This means that anyone who is on Homes for Haringey’s payroll receives a minimum of the Living Wage rate per hour, which is currently set at £8.80.
Sophie Stephens, North London Lead Organiser for Citizens UK said:
“We are delighted to accredit Homes for Haringey as a Living Wage employer. They are now the largest accredited employer in the borough! The benefits of paying staff the Living Wage are clear and it’s great to see Homes for Haringey taking the lead in the borough on this important issue.”
Andrew Billany, Managing Director of Homes for Haringey, said:
“We are extremely proud to be part of this initiative, which shows our commitment as an employer and in supporting our local community, ensuring that everybody who is working hard is able to afford a decent standard of living."
