The next phase of Money Mentors aims to deepen and extend our peer financial education model through our communities by recruiting, educating and training community leaders as ‘trusted intermediaries’, who deliver Money Mentor training to their own school, university or faith community. This is the Money Mentors Academy.
What is the Money Mentors Academy?
A year-long financial literacy training and facilitation course for London Citizens’ members. In year 1 of the Money Mentors Academy, 100 London Citizens’ community leaders (from across all member institutions) will undergo a series of five dynamic trainings in the Money Mentors curriculum over the course of a year.
What will the curriculum include?
The curriculum will include units on credit, debt, budgeting and making smart money choices. The trainees will then pass this knowledge on to 1000 members of the local community and receive an accredited Money Mentors qualification at the end of the year.
Who is eligible for the Money Mentors Academy?
Anyone aged 16 upwards who is part of a London Citizens’ member organisation.
When will the training sessions take place?
There will be 5 training sessions from November 2010 to May 2011. November December February March May Mastering Money Credit Debt Budgeting Money Choices
What will participants gain?
Leadership development
Experience of teaching/training
Financial education
A Money Mentors qualification
What will be expected from each participant?
To attend all five training sessions.
To recruit 10 other people from their institution to train
To hold a training for 10 other people after each training session
To write a portfolio of learning by the end of the year
